The presidential commissioner for Health Emergencies and Migrant Health Care, José Manuel Olivares, warned this Monday that there are beginning to be deaths of Venezuelans in their homes due to coronavirus, and pointed out that there are more than 561 deaths, more than double what the Nicolás Maduro regime says.

“The figure of 561 deaths is well below the real figure, we have estimated that the under-registration in Venezuela is close to 60%. We are working to obtain the real number of deaths due to Maduro. There are 71 health members who have lost their lives due to covid-19. They lost their lives for not having the materials and protective equipment. Venezuelan personnel have 30 times the risk of being infected, ”Olivares explained.

Regarding the country’s hospital capacity, the parliamentarian reported: “Occupations in emergencies nationwide are at more than 65%. Very concerned about the situation in the east of the country. Patients are being turned away due to hospital collapse ”.

And he added: “They are collapsed. There is no therapy. There are only 146 ventilators and 136 intensive care beds in the country’s large hospitals ”.

“What are we going to do if we run out of medical personnel?” Asked the deputy. And he assured that many people are dying at home.

“We are losing them because there is no protection material, and the great contrast is bringing Cuban doctors. They begin to have died at home, there were four cases in the Sucre municipality, Miranda state, they arrived at the Domingo Luciani Hospital without vital signs, ”he warned.

In Anzoátegui state, Olivares explained, the Luis Razzeti hospital is without water and with electricity provided by a plant. “19 deaths in 48 hours in the largest hospital in Anzoátegui.”

“We do not see any reaction from the dictatorship. We are reaching an epidemiological point where the number of cases equals or exceeds the number of tests. They do not do more than 600 and 800 tests and have a delay of 14 days, “he explained.

Regarding the hiring of Cuban doctors, Olivares said: “There is money for a new business with Cubans, but there is no money to save the lives of Venezuelans. What is needed in Venezuela are not doctors, it is a new government, that the dictatorship leaves. Maduro not only disburses money to bring trucks from the United States, but now to bring medical personnel from Havana. Maduro is incapable of protecting our doctors ”.
