Covid-19: 49 additional deaths in hospitals in Auvergne in one week

The year 2020 is drawing to a close on an expected observation: the Covid-19 epidemic is still very present in Auvergne.

Since Christmas, the number of hospitalizations in the four Auvergne departments has remained almost stable and has even increased in Puy-de-Dôme. 49 additional deaths are to be deplored in Auvergne hospitals in one week.

However, the incidence rate (number of positive tests per 100,000 inhabitants over a sliding week) is only alarming in the Allier (210.98 this Wednesday evening). This would justify the presence of this department on the list of territories affected by the establishment of a curfew from 6 p.m. from January 2. The incidence rate is 139.04 in the Puy-de-Dôme; from 117.64 in Cantal; from 108.42 in Haute-Loire.

This Wednesday evening, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region lists 4,216 hospitalizationss in progress due to Covid-19, including 401 in intensive care. 6,674 people have died in hospital since the start of the epidemic (+259 in one week).
