COVID-19: 304 new cases and 8 deaths reported since Friday in Alberta | Coronavirus

The curve is no longer flatAlberta Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr Deena Hinshaw warned Monday.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) documented 110 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, 103 on Saturday and 91 on Sunday.

Seven Albertans have died from COVID-19 since Friday’s assessment, including five in the residence Good Samaritan Southgate in Edmonton.

The outbreak at this facility killed 12 residents in total. As of Monday, there were 47 residents and 14 employees still living with COVID-19. AHS is working with the administration of the residence to implement additional measures to limit the spread of the virus on the premises.

Corrigendum:

A previous version of this text incorrectly stated that AHS had taken control of the administration of the residence. This false information was said during the press conference, but Alberta Health later clarified that it was a mistake. This option was considered, but rejected.

AHS Also just determined that a woman in her 80s who died in Edmonton two months ago has died of the coronavirus. The total number of Albertans killed by the pandemic has therefore climbed to 186.
