Thiès, Jan 23 (APS) – The epidemic treatment center (CTE) of the regional hospital of Thiès (west), with a capacity of 18 patients, is currently receiving 12, we learned. Saturday of its director, Alioune Faye.
“Until yesterday (Friday), there were 12 hospital patients,” he told reporters when receiving medical equipment donated to the hospital by Caridad, a French association.
” A lot of sick people come to the hospital, but we are not overwhelmed. We manage to take care of them, ” said Faye.
Asymptomatic people – those infected with Covid-19 without showing symptoms – are still asked to return home and undergo treatment at home, recalled the director of the hospital.
The Thiès Covid-19 patient treatment center was opened on May 1. It had a capacity of 35 beds, including three for intensive care.
Due to the drop in Covid-19 cases, its reception capacity has been reduced to 18 beds, according to Alioune Faye.
Next week, seven additional beds will be put in place, with the help of the Caridad association, he promised.
