Bayern Munich announced on Wednesday that Brazilian star Philippe Coutinho has left the club to return to FC Barcelona as planned.
The 28-year-old midfielder, loaned for one season to the German club, played 38 times for Bayern, in all competitions, and scored eleven goals, including two against his club Barcelona, in the quarter-finals of the Champions League (8 -2). He won the cup, the German championship and the Champions League.
“Due to injuries and an operation, he was unfortunately not able to play as often” as he would have liked, said Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, “but he can rightly be proud of his participation in the treble, and in particular in the final tournament of the Champions League in Lisbon ”.
