Court handles Taghi’s requests behind closed doors | Inland

The court is handling a number of requests by Ridouan Taghi behind closed doors. This means that apart from the litigants – the court, prosecutors, his lawyer and security – no one may be present in the courtroom and hear what it is about.

Taghi’s lawyer Inez Weski had asked for the doors to be closed in making her requests. The privacy of her client is the reason for this, according to the counsel. After the closed part, the court announced that the doors would remain closed “in the interests of proper administration of justice”. Otherwise, it could suffer “serious damage”, according to the judge.

The 42-year-old Taghi is the main suspect in the large liquidation process of Marengo. The Public Prosecution Service had unsuccessfully opposed the private treatment.

Weski’s requests are related to his transfer, but she made no further explanation. Taghi was arrested in Dubai in December after being a fugitive for years. His transport to the Netherlands would have been accompanied by the necessary violence. A few days later he was taken to the Netherlands by special transport. Since then he has been on remand in the extra security prison in Vught.

A total of seventeen suspects are on trial in Marengo. From Tuesday, an interim hearing round will take place in the extra secure courtroom at Schiphol. Taghi is not present in person. He also did not appear in court at previous hearings this year.
