Course at the Würzburger TelefonSeelsorge

Especially in times of Corona, when many offers of help and encounters disappeared, it became clear how important the offer of pastoral care by telephone is.

According to the press release by head Ruth Belzner, thanks to the current 90 trained volunteers, the phone is manned around the clock, sometimes on two lines. And with 15 specially trained employees, she can also offer pastoral care in chat.

Nevertheless, the pastoral service for telephony needs “newcomers” again this year, people who are interested in working on the phone (and possibly also in chat) and who want to qualify beforehand. The training begins on 19/20. September with a first weekend, followed by 34 evenings (Monday, 6 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., excluding holiday periods) and two further weekends (February 27/28 and July 16-18, 2021).

The training is free of charge. A two-year assignment with 12 hours of service per month is then expected, of which 1/3 is in the night shifts (11 pm-3am and 3-7am). Before the training begins, there will be an information evening on June 18 and a selection weekend (July 4 and 5). The TelefonSeelsorge Würzburg / Main-Rhön is sponsored by Caritas and Diakonie, as the press letter says.
