In this report Huawei won a market share of 9.3 percent while Samsung gained a market share of 7.6 percent. South Korean technology manufacturers only achieved 6.8 percent market share in Q2 2020, and managed to increase to 7.6 percent in Q2 2021.
The report also highlights that although Apple retains the first rank, Samsung and Garmin are known to have recorded outstanding smartwatch shipments in the second quarter of 2021. By 43 percent and 62 percent YoY, respectively.
And Apple is also known to experience a decline, where in Q2 2020, they managed to dominate the market up to 30.1 percent, while in Q2 2021 it decreased slightly to 28.0 percent.
The decline also indicates that Apple needs to be wary of competition in this smartwatch market, given the increasingly fierce competition from Chinese and Indian brands in recent months.
Despite the declining market share, the Apple Watch managed to register a user base that reached 100 million for the first time.
Counterpoint explains that the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE are the best-selling smartwatches globally. The other three smartwatches on the list are the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2, Apple Watch Series 3, and the Imoo Z6-4G.
