Each year, the Mémorial de Caen gives the floor to high school students who wish to defend a case of violation of human rights. Beyond the exercise of eloquence, the pleading competition is above all a forum for expression, a space for speaking out offered to young people to defend a cause, a freedom and to denounce violated human rights.

For this 25th edition, the Mémorial de Caen received 1,400 pleadings, among them 10 teams from the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region were selected. There are four teams from Côte-d’Or:

  • Maëlle Diot (Charles de Gaulle International High School, Dijon): “Let’s fight against impunity! »
  • Chloé Kaouadji and Lou Stroebel (Etienne-Jules Marey high school, Beaune): “Forgotten children”
  • Benjamin Lacombe (comprehensive school of Clos mayor, Beaune): “Your opinion will not change anything”
  • Mustapha Semghouni (Anna-Judic high school, Semur-en-Auxois): “Obstetrical and gynecological violence”

Candidates must send their pleading on video before February 18. After viewing and deliberation, the jury will select one team per region.

The national final will take place on March 18 at the Mémorial de Caen. It will be broadcast live on the Caen Memorial website and Facebook page.
