CÔTE-D’OR: Investigation into a murder of a spouse followed by a suicide

On Friday April 9, in Beire-le-Châtel, a 46-year-old man probably killed his partner with knives before committing suicide by throwing himself from the top of a viaduct on the A6.

Friday April 09, 2021 at 9:30 p.m., the gendarmerie was notified that a murder of a spouse had probably just been committed in Beire-le-Châtel, at the victim’s home.

The alert was given by the ex-wife of a man, to whose home he had passed immediately after the tragedy, by confiding to her that he had just killed his current companion and that he was going to end her life. .

On the spot, the gendarmes did indeed find the lifeless body of a 46-year-old woman.

An investigation of flagrance of the aggravated murder count (as committed on spouse or partner) was opened and entrusted by the parquet floor of Dijon to the research brigade of the company of gendarmerie of Is-sur-Tille, with the support of the research brigade of the Beaune gendarmerie company and the Dijon gendarmerie research section.

Her 46-year-old partner was immediately sought after.

The latter’s vehicle was found empty of occupant on the edge of the A6 motorway near Pouilly-en-Auxois and his lifeless body was discovered shortly after, at the foot of a motorway viaduct, from where he had obviously just thrown himself.

An autopsy was performed on the victim on Sunday April 11, 2021. It revealed about fifteen wounds caused by two distinct bladed weapons, such as knives, in the victim’s chest and neck.

Two knives, of the kitchen knife type, were moreover discovered bloody at the scene of the tragedy.

No complaint, investigation or ongoing procedure has been found for previous domestic violence that may have already occurred within this couple.

The alleged perpetrator has previously been convicted by the courts:
– July 3, 2017, to a fine of days for acts of domestic violence on his ex-wife
– and on March 13, 2019, to a suspended fine for acts of carrying out archaeological excavations without authorization.

He was summoned to the Dijon Criminal Court on September 9, 2021 for acts of theft. A criminal composition was underway against him for illegal possession of collector’s weapons.

The investigation is continuing to determine the exact circumstances of the crime.
