Côte d’Ivoire has a national service for young people and national volunteering

On June 21, 2022, the launch ceremony of the National Youth and Volunteering Service took place in Abidjan in the presence of several members of the government, including Mamadou Touré, Minister of Youth Promotion, Professional Integration and Civic Service. .

From the start of this ceremony, the President National Youth Council of Côte d’Ivoire (CNJCI), Diabaté Ibrahima recalled that the structure he heads is an umbrella grouping more than 800 organizations. These different organizations will therefore be involved in the realization of the wish of the Ivorian government to know how to promote civic service and volunteering. The Minister of Youth Promotion, Professional Integration and Civic Service Mamadou Touré indicated that 500 young people will be recruited very soon to integrate the civic service centers distributed throughout the national territory.

I therefore invite all young people to register online to participate in this pilot phase.

“We are going to work with the municipalities, the regional councils. I therefore invite all young people to register online to participate in this pilot phase,” he said. Regarding this pilot phase, the young recruits will be based in Yamoussoukro, the political capital. This training, it must be said, is organized by the National Civic Service Office (OSCN) in partnership with the National Polytechnic Institute Félix Houphouët-Boigny (INPHB) thanks to the support of financial partners such as the Française de Développement (AFD) and the World Bank.

The Institut National Polytechnique Houphouët-Boigny will make available to these 500 volunteers “equipment, in particular the experimental farm which extends over several hectares, laboratories and a video studio”, indicated the director general of the INPHB, Diaby Moussa. Abdul Kader. According to Touré Mamadou, director general of the OSCN, this training aims to lead Ivorian youth to reclaim civic values, in particular civic-mindedness, citizenship, volunteering and respect for the symbols of the Republic.
