The body found on Tuesday, January 7th in the Main near Thüngersheim is the 30-year-old father of a family. According to the results of the autopsy, the police assume that the man was drowned to death. There is still no evidence of a crime.

An employee of the Water and Shipping Office discovered the body about 200 to 300 meters in front of the Erlabrunn lock. With a boat from the Water and Shipping Office, the body could be recovered from the water and brought ashore.

Dead body from the Main: DNA analysis should bring certainty

The police assume an accident. As the chief commissioner announced, the missing person was a passionate photographer. The 30-year-old probably tried to take a photo and fell into the Main. Several large-scale searches in December 2019 were unsuccessful.

The 30-year-old has been missing since the beginning of December. After visiting the floating club “Das Boot”, which was originally at anchor in Nuremberg, he phoned his wife on December 9th at 5:30 am and told her that he was now on his way home. However, when he did not come home after several hours, his wife reported to the police.
