Coronavirus. “We are close to declaring zero availability of beds”: Governor of Tamaulipas

Ciudad Victoria.- The Governor of Tamaulipas, Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca, revealed that in municipalities such as Nuevo Laredo, Reynosa and Matamoros infections have exploded, which is why in these places “we are very close to declaring zero availability of beds and fans for patients from Covid-19”.

Through a video, the Tamaulipeco president warned that the entity is experiencing a situation of true emergency and made a call to the population of the entity, “stop parties, stop meetings, stop mass gatherings.”

He reported that to date the state exceeds 6,000 confirmed cases, and more than 500 deaths. “These are figures that hurt, however, what we are most concerned about at the moment is the tendency to increase.”

He even mentioned that if this continues, the public and private hospitals enabled for Covid-19 patients “will be saturated and we will have to improvise camps to receive infected people, with the risks that this implies.”

In the message, García Cabeza de Vaca also referred to the efforts they have made in the area of prevention, since the construction of the 8 COVID-equipped hospitals, confinement measures, sanitary filters, and the suspension of non-essential activities, among other measures.

He commented that society has relaxed, which has exponentially increased contacts. “It pains me to say it, not all Tamaulipas are acting responsibly and endangering both their lives and that of their families and closest beings,” he said.

The Governor explained that while responsible people take extreme precautions and leave their homes only for highly justified reasons, some people continue to celebrate parties and meetings, increasing mobility on public roads, putting their lives and the lives of others at risk.

“This is a call to life. Either we are all acting in solidarity and responsibility today, or soon we will face the most severe health crisis that Tamaulipas has perhaps suffered in its history, ”he said.
