The high effectiveness of the vaccine against various COVID-19 variants has been confirmed by the latest research by the American concern Novavax. Its preparation turned out to be 91 percent effective in people diagnosed with a high risk of a severe course of the disease.

The Novavax study was conducted on a sample of nearly 30,000 people in the US and Mexico. Clinical trials show over 90% effectiveness against variants: Alpha, Beta and Delta.

150 million doses by the end of the year
Novavax is a protein vaccine. The company said the vaccine was generally well tolerated by study participants. Side effects included headache, fatigue, and mild muscle aches. A small number of study participants described the side effects as serious.

By the end of the third quarter of 2021, the company intends to produce 100 million doses of the vaccine, and by the end of the fourth quarter – 150 million.
