Coronavirus Tuscany, the Covid Christmas bulletin: the positive rate rises to 16%

Florence, 25 December 2020 – In Tuscany there are 118,155 cases of Coronavirus positivity, 613 more than yesterday. New cases are 0.5% more than the previous day’s total. The healed grew by 0.3% and reached 103,328 (87.5% of total cases). The swabs performed reached 1,841,106, 11,029 more than yesterday, of which 5.6% positive. On the other hand, 3,806 subjects tested today (excluding the control swabs), of which 16.1% was positive. To these are added the 3,850 rapid antigenic swabs performed today. The currently positive are 11,269 today, + 2.7% compared to yesterday. The hospitalized are 1,009 (40 less than yesterday), of which 166 in intensive care (5 more).

Today 6 new ones are registered deaths: 5 men and one woman with an average age of 75.5 years.

The average age of 613 cases today is approximately 46 years (12% are under 20, 24% between 20 and 39, 37% between 40 and 59, 20% between 60 and 79, 7% are 80 or older).

The case map

The following are the cases of positivity in the area with the change compared to yesterday. There are 32,949 total cases to date a Florence (139 more than yesterday), 10,274 a Meadow (50 more), 10,355 a Pistoia (42 more), 7,565 a Massa Carrara (47 more), 12,229 a Lucca (80 more), 16,468 a Pisa (83 more), 8,442 a Livorno (74 more), 10,408 ad Arezzo (32 more), 4,782 a Siena (37 more), 4,128 a Grosseto (29 more). 555 positive cases were reported in Tuscany, but residing in other regions.

242 cases have been found today in the Centro ASL, 274 in the North West, 97 in the South East.

Tuscany is in 11th place in Italy in terms of number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with about 3,168 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (Italian average about 3,329 x100,000, yesterday’s figure). The provinces of notification with the highest rate are Prato with 3,987 cases x100,000 inhabitants, Pisa with 3,930, Massa Carrara with 3,882, the lowest Siena with 1,790.

People in quarantine

Altogether, 10,260 people are in isolation at home, as they have mild symptoms that do not require hospital care, or are symptom-free (340 more than yesterday, plus 3.4%).
There are 21,481 (418 fewer than yesterday, minus 1.9%) people, also isolated, in active surveillance because they have had contact with infected people (ASL Centro 6.091, North West 11.546, South East 3.844).

Net drop in hospitalizations, but five more in intensive care

People hospitalized in the beds dedicated to patients Covid today they are a total of 1,009 (40 less than yesterday, minus 3.8%), 166 in intensive care (5 more than yesterday, plus 3.1%).
The total number of people healed are 103,328 (307 more than yesterday, plus 0.3%): 437 clinically healed people (48 more than yesterday, plus 12.3%), that is, who became asymptomatic after presenting clinical manifestations associated with infection and 102,891 (259 more than yesterday, plus 0.3%) declared healed in all respects, the so-called viral healings, with negative swab.

The deaths

Unfortunately, today there are 6 new deaths: 5 men and one woman with an average age of 75.5 years. With regard to the province of residence, the deceased persons are: 1 in Florence, 1 in Pistoia, 2 in Siena, 2 in Grosseto.

3,558 have died since the beginning of the epidemic as follows: 1,210 in Florence, 242 in Prato, 270 in Pistoia, 375 in Massa Carrara, 323 in Lucca, 403 in Pisa, 262 in Livorno, 212 in Arezzo, 120 in Siena, 88 in Grosseto, 53 people died on Tuscan soil but were residents outside the region.

The Tuscan raw mortality rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 95.4 x100,000 residents against the 117.5 x100,000 of the Italian average (11th region). As for the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa Carrara (192.4 x100.000), Florence (119.6 x100.000) and Pisa (96.2 x100.000), the lowest in Grosseto (39.7 x100.000).
