Florence, 18 August 2020 – In Tuscany there are 10,885 cases of Coronavirus positivity, thirty-one more than yesterday (15 identified in the course of tracing and 16 from screening activities). New cases are 0.3% more than the previous day’s total. The healed remained stable at 9,028 (82.9% of total cases). The average age of 31 cases today is about 42 years and, as regards the clinical states, 32% were asymptomatic, 47% pauci-symptomatic and 16% with mild symptoms. Five cases have returned from abroad, of which three for vacation reasons (the others are contacts). THE swabs performed reached 474,476, 3,425 more than yesterday. The currently positive are 718 today, + 4.5% compared to yesterday. Today there are no new deaths.
The new cases in Florence (9), Prato (3), Massa (8), Lucca (4), Arezzo (4) and Siena (3)
The following are the cases of positivity in the area with the change from yesterday. There are 3,392 total cases to date in Florence (9 more than yesterday), 584 in Prato (3 more), 775 in Pistoia, 1,097 in Massa (8 more), 1,455 in Lucca (4 more), 980 in Pisa, 508 in Livorno, 739 in Arezzo (4 more), 457 in Siena (3 more), 427 in Grosseto. There are 471 positive cases reported in Tuscany, but residing in other regions. There are therefore 12 cases found today in the Central Local Health Authority, 12 in the North West, 7 in the South East.
Tuscany is confirmed in 10th place in Italy in terms of number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with about 292 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (Italian average about 421 x100,000, yesterday’s figure). The provinces with the highest rate of notification are Massa Carrara with 563 cases x100,000 inhabitants, Lucca with 375, Florence with 335, the lowest Livorno with 152.
Altogether, 698 people are in isolation at home, as they have mild symptoms that do not require hospital treatment or are symptom-free (26 more than yesterday, plus 3.9%). I’m 1.775 (41 more than yesterday, plus 2.4%) people, also isolated, in active surveillance because they have had contact with infected people (Asl Centro 979, North West 509, South East 287).
Hospitalizations are increasing
The people hospitalized in the beds dedicated to Covid patients today are a total of 20 (5 more than yesterday, 33.3% more), 4 in intensive care (stable compared to yesterday). The total people healed are 9,028 (stable compared to yesterday): 117 people clinically healed (7 less than yesterday, minus 5.6%), that is, who became asymptomatic after presenting clinical manifestations associated with the infection and 8,911 (7 more compared to yesterday, plus 0.1%) declared healed in all respects, the so-called viral healings, with double negative swab.

No deaths today
Today there are no new deaths. They therefore remain 1,139 have died since the beginning of the epidemic divided as follows: 417 in Florence, 52 in Prato, 81 in Pistoia, 174 in Massa Carrara, 145 in Lucca, 91 in Pisa, 63 in Livorno, 50 in Arezzo, 33 in Siena, 25 in Grosseto, 8 people died on the ground Tuscan but were residents outside the region.
The raw Tuscan mortality rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 30.5 x100,000 residents against 58.6 x100,000 of the Italian average (11th region). As for the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa Carrara (89.3 x100.000), Florence (41.2 x100.000) and Lucca (37.4 x100.000), the lowest in Grosseto (11.3 x100.000).
