Coronavirus: the Toulouse University Hospital no longer welcomes outpatients without signs of severity

The coronavirus epidemic is forcing health services to take drastic action. Following a meeting organized with regional health actors and the Regional Health Agency, the Toulouse University Hospital decided on March 13 to no longer accept outpatients if they do not have a serious illness or injury.

“We do not close emergencies”

Understand: if you have a sprain, a minor digestive problem or a cut that does not require urgent care, you must now go to a general practitioner or a medical health facility. “We are not closing emergencies. We want to recover beds and human resources to mobilize them on patients with coronavirus”, explains the communication from the hospital center.

As for people who have symptoms of Covid-19, they should not move and always call 15 who will direct them to the appropriate structures.

It is unclear when this measure will end. “We adapt from day to day. It is difficult to plan, but when you see other cities like Montpellier for example, you have to know how to anticipate …” explains the communication.
