Coronavirus Peru | More than 10 thousand new cases of COVID-19 were registered in the last week, reports Essalud | Fourth Wave | NMR | LIME

In the last epidemiological week (from June 12 to 18), 10,826 new cases of COVID-19a figure higher than that reported in the previous week that had 7,457 infected, according to a report by the Intelligence and Data Analysis Unit (UIAD) of Essalud.

He specified that in the last epidemiological week the cases increased in 36 districts of Lima and Callao. Among the districts that registered the most infected are Santiago de Surco (930 new infections), Miraflores (608), La Molina (428), San Borja (480), Jesús María (445), Magdalena del Mar (264), Surquillo (274) and San Juan de Lurigancho (114). ).

He also said that in 12 regions there was an increase in confirmed cases of coronavirus, being Lima y Arequipa the regions that report the greatest increase with 4,882 and 750 infections, respectively.

Áncash, Cusco, Junín, Moquegua, Piura, Tacna, Ica, Cajamarca, Lambayeque and Pasco are other regions that report an increase in SARS-CoV-2.

Hospitalizations

Regarding deaths, the Social Security spokesperson explained that the decrease in weekly deaths continues after the peak of the third wave. In the last week, there were 70 deaths from the dreaded disease, 23 less than what was reported in the previous week.

Regarding hospitalizations, he pointed out that, since the peak of the third wave (6,867 hospital beds), there has been a decrease in hospitalized patients for 16 weeks in a row. “In the last week, on average, some 742 people hospitalized for COVID-19 in the health subsystems”, detailed.

Regarding the occupation of ICU beds, he indicated that in the last week an average of 143 critical patients were registered in the intensive care units, nine times less than the maximum recorded this year (1,358 ICU beds).
