Starting tomorrow, Saturday, March 26, the vaccination of the third dose against the COVID-19 to adolescents aged 12 to 17 years in all vaccination centers in the country, reported the head of Immunizations of the Ministry of Health (minsa), Maria Elena Martinez.

The official said that this measure is part of the actions taken by the Health sector to intensify the entire vaccination process at the national level. As she indicated, the coronavirus vaccine “is the only thing that can save us if there is a next wave.”

“Starting tomorrow, the third dose against COVID-19 will be applied to children between 12 and 17 years of age after 5 months of receiving the second dose. This means that the boys who were vaccinated in October are already eligible to receive this 3 doses”, told the Andean Agency.

As recalled since Friday, November 26, 2021, the third dose of the vaccine, or booster dose, against the coronavirus to everyone 18 years of age.

Although initially this was placed 5 months after receiving the second dose, upon confirmation of the omicrom variant in the country; the Ministry of Health decided to reduce the waiting time from 5 to just 3 months.

However, now the sector in the case of adolescents from 12 to 17 years old has opted for the period of 5 months after the second dose has been applied.

In April, three doses will be required for people over 18 years of age

The Government will issue in the coming days the supreme decree that will require the people over 18 years of age the three doses of the vaccine against the new coronavirus to enter public and private establishments.

The information was released by the president of the Council of Ministers, Aníbal Torres, and the head of Health, Hernán Condori, during the press conference held last Wednesday after the session of the Council of Ministers.

It was reported that the supreme decree that will formalize this measure will be published in the coming days by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers in the Official Gazette A Peruvian man.
