Madrid is considering a new salary reduction for the next season of 30%. This discount would be independent from the 10% agreed for the current season with the staff and it would affect, also, the high positions of the club. But not the rest of the workers (there are more than 800). Madrid is not the only club that will be forced to make this reduction to balance accounts. Other LaLiga majors also face it. Clubs that receive proportionally more revenue from merchandising and marketing ticketing are more exposed.
The white entity has budgeted total income for this season of 822 million euros. They are broken down into four main games: 161 million for membership and subscriber fees and ticket sales, 109 for international friendlies and competitions, 180 million for television rights and 371 million for marketing. All those games are seriously threatened. If Madrid lost only 20% of that income, which today is seen as the best scenario, 165 million euros would stop entering. A problem, because ordinary expenses are 741 million.
Cutting expenses is therefore an obligation. Madrid now has a salary mass for the first team of 283 million. If it were reduced by 30%, the savings would be 85 million only in the first template. Madrid estimates that it would save some 100 adding 30% of the salaries of Castilla and of the great managers.
The accounts are very simple for the players. Ramos and Bale charge the most, 14.5 million euros net. With the 30 percent downgrade, the two would end up charging 10 (they would lose 4.3). This drop in wages will be a widespread action, too, in the great teams of Europe. Without going any further, PSG has already stated that it intends to lower the salaries of its stars by 50%.
The real Madrid.
That there is no date to see the fields full (until the effective treatment or the vaccine) is a drama for Madrid. It obtains an income of 54 million just for the membership fees and subscriptions. In Barcelona the situation is traced.
