Health Minister Roman Prymula said on Friday that the daily increase in the number of infections alone is not decisive, and the scale of the pandemic is determined by: the number of hospitalized patients, the use of specialized beds in hospitals and the number of deaths.

There were 740 people in hospitals in the Czech Republic on Friday in connection with Covid-19. This number has more or less quadrupled since the beginning of September. The number of severely ill patients also quadrupled in a month; according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health, there are currently 151 such patients. At the same time, the number of deaths has increased significantly, by one third – 581 have been reported since the outbreak of the pandemic. About 60 patients died last week.

The greatest number of infections is in Prague and in the suburbs of the capital. According to Prymula, there are more and more cases of infections in Prague, the source of which cannot be determined. The percentage of patients at risk of 65+ is also growing.
