Freelancers directly or indirectly affected by the coronavirus control measures will benefit from loss of earnings benefits until September 16. The Federal Council decided on Wednesday to extend the deadline, which expired at the end of May.
Expanded circle
While the measures have been largely lifted, many companies have not yet been able to resume business or can only partially do so. They therefore record a loss of their turnover. The Federal Council considers that it is therefore justified to support them.
The people concerned do not need to take any particular steps. The AVS compensation funds will resume payment of their allowance.
The circle of beneficiaries of this allowance has been extended to the owners of SA and Sàrl who are employees of their company and who work in events. Since June 1, these people no longer receive unemployment insurance benefits while the sector is still severely affected. However, they will have to wait a few weeks before claiming their rights.
The additional costs are estimated at one billion francs. No additional credit is required.
Cases of hardship
Certain economic sectors consider that they have not been sufficiently supported by the Confederation against the coronavirus and that the measures do not provide a satisfactory solution. The Federal Council therefore decided that an in-depth analysis was necessary in order to determine the presence of cases of hardship.
The Federal Office of Culture, the Federal Office of Agriculture and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs were responsible for examining the different situations. The result is expected by the end of August, said Minister of the Economy Guy Parmelin.
