Coronavirus in Spain today, live: AstraZeneca and Janssen vaccine | Restrictions and curfew

THE 10 COVID STRAINS IN SPAIN

The British variant of the coronavirus installed for months in Spain it continues to gain presence although it continues to do so unevenly, and while in some communities it represents practically all of the diagnosed cases, in Madrid it is reduced to 64.3 percent.

They are the last data of the “Update of the epidemiological situation of the variants of SARS-CoV-2 of importance in public health in Spain “, which maintains three as those with the greatest impact on public health or VOC (variants of concern): the British B.1.1.7, the South African (B.1.351) and the Brazilian (P.1). But in addition, the Center for the Coordination of Health Alerts and Emergencies (CCAES) monitors other seven variants of interest (VOI), of which the impact they may have on Public Health is still unknown.

B.1.1.7 (UK)

Predominant in Europe and other countries such as Israel, this variant is characterized by an increase in transmissibility, a possible increase in lethality, a little effect on immunity, and a slight reduction in vaccine effectiveness. Its evolution in Spain continues to be uneven although it already accounts for more than 60% of cases in all communities.

A) Yes, Madrid is the autonomy in which it is least present at the moment (64.3%), followed by Aragon (65%) and Castilla-La Mancha (76.6%); from there, in the Basque Country it rises to 80.3%; in Murcia, 80.6%; Balearic Islands and Extremadura (81.6%); La Rioja and Melilla (84%); Catalonia (85.7%); Cantabria (88.6%); Andalusia (89.8%) and Castilla y León (89.9%). In Galicia it occupies 90.9%; in the Valencian Community 94.8%, in Navarra 96.1% and in Asturias 98.8%.

B.1.351 (SOUTH AFRICAN)

Present in South Africa, Zambia, Botswana and other countries of the southern African cone and with cases in numerous European countries -with important presence in Tirol (Austria)– is related to an increase in transmissibility and a reduction in vaccine effectiveness. To date they have been detected 4 sporadic cases and 9 outbreaks with 72 associated positives, of which 30 have been confirmed by sequencing.

Two outbreaks and two sporadic cases are related to travel to Tanzania (11 cases), Cameroon (2 cases), South Africa (1 case) and Equatorial Guinea (1 case) respectively. In 7 outbreaks (59 cases) and 2 sporadic cases, no link with high prevalence areas could be identified. Four of these outbreaks have been detected in the same municipality.

LA P.1 (BRAZILIAN)

With presence in the region of Manaus (Brazil), today it has a high prevalence also in the Umbria region, Italy. This variant is being studied for its transmissibility and escape from the immune response and it shows a reduction in neutralizing antibody titers in vaccinated sera. In Spain, 35 cases have been detected, 3 isolated and 8 outbreaks with a total of 32 cases.

A sporadic case and 3 outbreaks with 8 associated positives they were related to trips to Brazil. Another of the sporadic cases was related to a trip to Venezuela and another of the outbreaks (with 5 cases involved) was related to a trip to Argentina.

In a sporadic case and 4 outbreaks (with 19 cases in total), an epidemiological link could not be established with Brazil or other countries in the region. One of the cases included in one of these outbreaks is a probable reinfection case.

LA P.2 (RIO DE JANEIRO)

Two sporadic cases in travelers from Brazil (both confirmed by sequencing). On the other hand, a family outbreak has been observed with three positive cases and a hospital outbreak with 9 cases (all confirmed by sequencing) No known ties to Brazil.

LA B.1.525 (NIGERIAN)

A case sequenced in January, but there are no epidemiological data.

B.1.429 (CALIFORNIA)

25 cases, 3 of them sporadic and three outbreaks in the same autonomous community with a total of 22 infections involved. No travel history has been identified in any of them.

C.16 (PORTUGAL)

First case confirmed by sequencing. There are no epidemiological data on it.

A.23.1 (UGANDA)

Three confirmed cases in the same community, one of them associated with another non-sequenced case.

B.1.258A

Important expansion in Czech Republic and Slovakia and also present in other neighboring countries. In Spain there are 34 sequenced cases so far in 5 autonomous communities, 16 of them in the same and 5 are part of the same outbreak.

B.1.526 (NEW YORK)

Confirmed a case by sequencing. There are no epidemiological data on this case.
