About 584 new cases of coronavirus infection in Poland the Ministry of Health announced today. Nine more people died. This is the largest daily increase in COVID-19 infections since June 8, with 599 new cases reported in the country. The ministry also provided information about the locations of infection outbreaks.
The mines again became the infection center in Silesia, namely: Coal Mines Bielszowice, Chwałowice and Przedsiębiorstwo Górnicze Silesia. In Małopolska, these are: production plants, a meat plant, a nursing home, and a commercial entity.
For several days we have been observing an increase in the incidence comparable to that of April. At that time, the strictest restrictions also applied. In the same month, the economy was thawed and restrictions were lifted.
– This is a very logical increase and proof that a lockdown was needed. If it were not this height, it would be a pointless sitting in confinement. Now, since people have started to move, they have also started to become infected – assesses in an interview with Onet prof. dr hab. Andrzej Horban, national consultant for infectious diseases.
Could the current increase be related to the holiday season? – Yes, of course – confirms the expert and points out that we do not use masks so commonly anymore. – Young people are infected – he adds.
In his opinion, however, it cannot be said that the government lifted the restrictions too early. – No, it was inevitable. It is difficult to keep people at home and make them, for example, not working for several months. It wouldn’t make sense. It makes sense, however, what is now heavily debated, which is keeping the elderly in social welfare homes without the possibility of their families visiting them. It is a must. If it were not for this, there would be another wave of infections in the DPS, and we hardly have it – he estimates.

The expert says that we should all remember three simple recommendations. – Keep the distance, which is 1.5 m now, and avoid the crowds and wear masks indoors – he says.
However, in the event of further increases, should the government restore or tighten the restrictions related to the coronavirus epidemic? – I think not. Even if something happens, it will be more towards persuading people to put on masks and keep a distance, he says.
According to prof. Horban, “the end of the holiday will be the key point” “The kids will go to school and they can become infected,” he says. – So far we have an upward trend, but it is difficult to say what will happen next. It all depends on whether the three principles already mentioned are followed. If so, then everything should stabilize at the current level, adds the national consultant for infectious diseases.
