Coronavirus in Italy, where the new outbreaks are and how they formed

The map of Italy these days has red dots everywhere. These are the new outbreaks of Sars-CoV-2, which are formed, are immediately identified and circumscribed, are exhausted. The Deputy Minister of Health Pierpaolo Sileri spoke about it in a post on Facebook: For days the data of the contagions, undulating, can lead us to think that the situation is getting out of hand but not so: there is no resurgence at national level, but different well contained outbreaks. If we protect ourselves and others with masks, spacing and hygiene, the virus’ upside phase will not be a second wave as we met it in March. The new daily positives reached 500, but the impact on healthcare facilities remained stable.

Return from abroad

Among the factors to be taken into account, in addition to the number of tampons performed, the return to Italy of holidaymakers from abroad. Positive subjects were identified in two groups returning from Greece and Croatia. THE cluster however, they also develop in more isolated places, such as the convent of the Basilica of San Francesco in Assisi, where eight friars were infected. The bulletin of Sunday 10 August speaks of 463 more cases. The number of intensive care units (45 patients) and that of hospitalized patients (763) remained stable. Among the regions, there were no new cases in Calabria, Valle d’Aosta, Molise and Basilicata. In Tuscany, two outbreaks were discovered after the cases of 5 patients returned from Greece and another 4 returned from Croatia, at the end of the school year. Same phenomenon and same countries of origin for the latest cases that emerged in Emilia Romagna. In the list of new cluster Assisi also enters, for the 8 positive Franciscans from different parts of the world. Attention remains high for the outbreaks that have broken out in some migrant centers in Veneto. It should be remembered that the vast majority of new positives are asymptomatic or paucisymptomatic.

Here are the ten Regions with the highest number of new positives (data of 9 August):
Lombardy 71
Piedmont 38
Emilia Romagna 69
Veneto 58
Tuscany 61
Lazio 38
Walking 16
Campania 22
Abruzzo 16
Sicily 29

LOMBARDY

In the other provinces: 5 cases in Bergamo, 12 in Brescia, 6 in Como, 1 in Cremona, 1 in Lecco, 3 in Lodi, 13 in Mantua, 6 in Monza, 1 in Pavia and 2 in Varese. In the Alto Mantovano (in Rodigo) an outbreak was identified 5 days ago at the Francescon farm, defined by the local health authorities as not worrying.

PIEDMONT

an outbreak in Vercelli is the main cause of the surge in infections in the region. To carry the virus was a man returning from Santo Domingo, who would then spread the infection among some compatriots during an evening spent at the disco. The new positives are all asymptomatic.

EMILIA ROMAGNA

More than 40 new cases, of which 30 asymptomatic, were identified as part of the activities of contact tracing and screening, and 14 symptomatic. The highest numbers are in Reggio Emilia, with 10 new cases, of which 8 in home isolation and 2 hospitalized. Half of the newly infected Reggio people linked people who returned from holidays in Croatia and Greece. Another case is a return from Albania, already in isolation at the time of diagnosis. Four cases are attributable to an outbreak in a group returned from Corfu and two from the island of Pag (Croatia).

VENETO

The Treviso Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened a dossier on the maxi outbreak with over 200 positives that developed in the migrant reception center set up in the former Serena di Casier barracks. We want to understand what has been done – explains the prosecutor Michele Dalla Costa – and what, possibly, was missing in the management of migrants after the discovery of the first positives. Thus the Venetian president Luca Zaia: From the numbers that come out of this type of structures – he underlined, also alluding to the positive ones discovered in the Jesolo reception center – it is clear that health safety is not guaranteed. Right now we have to tackle the big issue of controlling outbreaks in these shelters, which we are doing with tampons. This reception model must be eliminated, which involves gatherings that are not in line with anti Covid regulations.

TUSCANY

Two outbreaks of returning from holidays: these are four patients from the Valdarno area of Arezzo who have returned from Greece and another four, inhabitants of the Sienese area, who have returned from Croatia. Five cases in Montevarchi (Arezzo), in a group of young people who have returned from a holiday in Corf. Also in Montevarchi a positive 27-year-old was reported, but she is not connected to the group of students. LAZIO

In Civitavecchia two cruise ships, without passengers, have been placed in isolation in recent days after the discovery of three positives among the crews. The ships were preparing for the reopening of the cruises. In Rome, a summer camp in the Tor Vergata area was temporarily closed by the ASL: two positive cases. Also in Lazio, in Sabaudia, the tracing of the contacts of a lifeguard continues to be positive.

MARKET

CAMPANIA

the outbreak that exploded in Mondragone (Caserta) between the end of June and the beginning of July in the district known as Palazzi Ex Cirio, mostly inhabited by Bulgarian citizens, mostly agricultural laborers, was almost extinguished. The outbreak of Conca della Campania is also under control: the infection started by a caregiver from Eastern Europe. Some positive Roma have been identified in Castel Volturno.

ABRUZZO

The new cases are due in part to the arrival of migrants: many, among the 200 who arrived in Abruzzo after the redistribution on a national basis, were positive, in isolation in protected structures. More concern, however, for the cluster territorial, such as that of the Avi.Coop plant of the Amadori group in Controguerra (Teramo) or that of Sulmona (L’Aquila), where several people who attended a birthday party then tested positive.

SICILY

New cases in Ragusa: the infected have had contact with friends of the couple from Modica who at the time were positive and in isolation in Sampieri. The growth of infections has alarmed the population and some mayors of Ragusa are considering whether to suspend the summer events.
