In the period between 3 and 9 August, in Italy, the number of contagion coronavirus remains on the whole contained, but increased: e there were no Regions where no new cases were recorded. The situation, therefore, at risk of worsening: so much so that, in 9 Regions, the Rt index has exceeded the threshold value of 1, and there are now 925 active outbreaks – 225 of which are new. The warning signals for a possible increase in transmission are therefore important, and interventions must be prepared in the event of further deterioration. To write it are the Ministry of Health and the Higher Institute of Health in the weekly report.
According to what was reported by the monitoring, the transmission of the virus remains widespread throughout the national territory: and when favorable conditions occur this causes outbreaks even of considerable size, often associated with the import of cases from foreign countries.

The increase especially in asymptomatic people, even if the national transmission index calculated on symptomatic cases is equal to 0.96 – therefore the number of symptomatic cases diagnosed in our country has been substantially stationary.

The median age of cases diagnosed in the last week is now around 40 years: and this implies a lower risk in the short term of a possible overload of health services.

For this, the tracking activities are essential: they are in fact the only way to reduce the time between the onset of symptoms and diagnosis. Just as fundamental remains the respect of all the measures necessary to reduce the risk of transmission such as individual hygiene, the use of masks and physical distancing.
The monitoring data confirm the trend recorded in the days just passed – and also photographed by the report of the Gimbe foundation (who) which pushes to air the hypothesis of new lockdowns in the event of a continuously growing trend. Of the same opinion – in an interview with Corriere – the coordinator of the Scientific Technical Committee Agostino Miozzo was also said: Local lockdowns would be inevitable, he explained, in the event of an ever-increasing contagion, even if it would be a nightmare. Faced with these data, the government has launched new rules in effect until 7 September – and there remains the hypothesis of more severe measures, such as the restoration of the obligation to wear a mask even outdoors in all the Regions, or local curfews.
