Coronavirus in Italy and in the world: news and Covid case bulletin of 11 August

Vaccine: Lombardy, 4 slow doses, 75% free August slots

The campaign for the fourth dose of the anti-Covid vaccine continues to advance slowly in Lombardy and in the rest of Italy. The fourth doses administered in Lombardy, supplied to the AGI by the Region, in August were 72,964 (yesterday 5,852), while in total they reached 518,815. Lombardy is in any case the first region, followed by Piedmont (372 thousand) and Emilia Romagna (313 thousand), but the poor response of the over 60 group is worrying, on which the fourth dose is strongly recommended. In fact, in the 60-69 age group, only 8.6% did it, a percentage that rises to 14.2% for 70-79 year-olds, to 33.6% from 80 to 89 and to 45.2% for the over 90s. Out of the total vaccinable Lombard population, 5.4% of the fourth dose was administered, compared to 75.8% for the third, 90% for the second and 91% for the third. Free vaccination slots in Lombardy, from 12 August until the end of the month, are 75%.
In recent days, the vice president and councilor for Welfare, Letizia Moratti, had made yet another appeal: “In Lombardy there is a wide availability for anti-Covid vaccination. I invite the frail, people over 60 and who has not yet vaccinated not to wait any longer. Let’s protect ourselves with the vaccine “.
