Chile added 162 deaths in the last 24 hours due to coronavirus and another 4,216 cases. Thus, the total number of infected reaches 271,982 people, informed the Ministry of Health of that country.
As for the deceased, the health ministry released a weekly report that counts 6,089 deaths confirmed by COVID-19 and others 2,846 deaths are listed as “probable” or “suspect”.
“That gap (gap between both counts) that occurs is a difference that we have to analyze. It is not immediate to know the reason why it occurs,” said the chief of epidemiology at the Ministry of Health, Diego Araos.
“The DEIS (Department of Statistics and Health Information, in charge of preparing the epidemiological report) reviews data sources to which we (Ministry of Health), in order to make a daily report, do not have access,” the official explained.
