Coronavirus in Belgium: 82.7 new infections per day on average last week, the trend is still decreasing

With an average of 82.7 new contaminations per day with Covid-19 over the last seven days, or 11% less than the previous week, the trend for new infections is down, according to figures from the health institute. Sciensano published Sunday.

The previous week, the average number of infections reported daily was 92.6. This number includes official contaminations up to and including last Wednesday.

In the past 14 days, there have been 10.7 new infections per 100,000 population.

On Sunday, only the number of confirmed infections is updated. The number of deaths and hospitalizations is not updated. This means that, for the moment, the number of deaths from coronavirus in Belgium still officially stands at 9,771 and that 168 patients are still hospitalized (including 32 in intensive care).
