Stuttgart – The stricter rules for private meetings decided by the federal and state governments are to come into force in the southwest immediately after the holidays. In the future, meetings will only be allowed with a maximum of ten people over the age of 14, said Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) on Wednesday in the state parliament.

Kretschmann does not consider measures to be sufficient

Since the Omikron variant can also be spread by vaccinated and convalescent people, this regulation is necessary. “It comes into effect immediately after the Christmas holidays, not on December 28th,” he said. Nevertheless, the measures decided on at the Prime Minister’s Conference are not sufficient.

On Tuesday, the federal and state governments agreed, among other things, on contact restrictions from December 28th at the latest in order to slow down the spread of the Omikron variant. Contacts should also be limited to a maximum of ten people for vaccinated and convalescent people.
