231 new infections, Offenbach passes next level

The number of new infections with the coronavirus continues to rise. 231 cases were confirmed within 24 hours, as the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced as of Friday midnight. There were no other deaths. So far 14,260 infections have been registered in Hesse, 528 people have died of or with Covid-19.

The city of Offenbach continues to lead the way when it comes to the important infection indicator of the seven-day incidence. According to the RKI, the value here was 51.4 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within the past seven days. In the Groß-Gerau district the value rose to 29.0, followed by Wiesbaden (24.4), Frankfurt (23.7), and the city of Kassel (22.3).

Offenbach is the first Hessian municipality to exceed the value of 50. The city is also currently the front runner nationwide. According to the level concept of the Ministry of Social Affairs to contain local coronavirus outbreaks, there are then extensive restrictions. The city wants to announce in the afternoon what concrete measures are being taken.
