Coronavirus: further rush for tests in front of the Ernst Happel Stadium

The drive-in and walk-in test center on the forecourt of Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium, in which returning Croatia vacationers can be tested for a coronavirus infection free of charge, continues to be heavily frequented. Around 1,400 samples were taken yesterday, Monday, according to a spokesman for Social Councilor Peter Hacker (SPÖ).

The test road was open again until 2.30 a.m. on the first full day of operation – it only started at noon on Sunday. It can be used by people with their main residence in Vienna, who are still allowed to come by until Friday. The station is normally open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. City councilor Hacker has already indicated that the facility could be extended and then also be available for travelers returning from other countries or the federal states.

No numbers from the stadium yet

How many returnees do or will do the test, which is now compulsory for Croatia in view of the travel warning, will not be informed about it, was emphasized. Because this would have to be done privately. Only the positive cases are registered. There are also no figures yet on how many of the Happel tests were positive.

A total of 6,332 people in Vienna have already been infected with the coronavirus. That is an increase of 146 cases within 24 hours. 5,083 people have recovered, the number of deaths remains unchanged at 207.
