According to the daily La Provence, the helicopter carrier, the Diksmuide, carried out its quartet at sea, during the crossing of the Atlantic. As a reminder, the UGTG requested that the boat’s crew be tested or placed in the fortnight before docking in Guadeloupe.

The duration of the helicopter carrier’s crossing, 14 days, challenged … A duration which would be due to a fortnight carried out by the Diksmuide crew, on the road to Guadeloupe, Martinique and Guyana.
Speed adapted to cross the Atlantic
The amphibious helicopter carrier Diksmuide is expected this Saturday, April 18, in our waters. After a departure on April 3, from Toulon, in the south of France, he will have made the crossing in just over 14 days. If this duration seemed long, for a military ship, it would seem according to the daily Provence, that Diksmuide would have adapted its “speed, in order to stay at sea for at least 14 days“.
A longer crossing to ensure that the helicopter carrier and its crew are not contaminated by the Covid-19.
A necessary precaution, because the Diksmuide must transport to the Antilles and Guyana, material, as well as nursing staff.
Yesterday (Tuesday, April 14), in a press release, the UGTG asked the authorities to test the entire crew of the ship or place the helicopter carrier in the fortnight and thus apply the precautionary principle.
