Coronavirus: 62 new cases in one week

The latest weekly ARS situation bulletin is worrying. The number of contaminations continues to increase dramatically: 62 new cases since Monday

For the week of July 25-31, 62 new cases were recorded, bringing to 265 the
number of cumulative cases of coronavirus confirmed by PCR tests in Guadeloupe. Among these new cases, 18 are directly linked to the appearance of the July 27 cluster, 5 cases are indigenous, 11 secondary and 12 cases are imported from Guyana, Martinique and France (with a conversion of negative cases to arrival then positive on D + 7).

The cluster survey has so far identified 380 contact persons. The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 may therefore increase, according to the ARS.

If you have been in contact with people in the cluster, isolate yourself and get tested
with or without symptoms (free test, without a prescription and with an appointment
laboratories).

Since Saturday July 25, 1,768 additional tests have been carried out in town and at the hospital, with a
total number of 17,003 tests carried out in the territory. 179 people are declared cured by
infectious disease specialists.

The virus reproduction factor (R) is 3.8. It is the sign of a certain relaxation in the respect of the barrier measures. The “R” represents the average number of people a
infected person can contaminate. The variation of R depends on the behavior of each and every
of us.

There are no longer any Guyanese patients in the intensive care unit of the CHUG.

The ARS calls for mass screening

Screening campaigns are currently organized in Guadeloupe and will begin in the
municipalities from next week, in collaboration with the municipalities.
A call for applications was launched in particular to extend the field of samplers (firefighters,
nurses, …). The regional unions of health professionals (URPS) nurses and laboratories have
were also contacted to increase the number of screening points in the territory.

A charter being drawn up with show producers

To allow the organization of evenings in optimal health security conditions,
the prefecture services support the organizers upstream to ensure full compliance with
regulatory and health measures in force.

After a first meeting with representatives of groups of entertainment producers
of the archipelago, a charter is being drawn up. This common tool of good practices will allow
professionals to work in compliance with safety and hygiene standards.

A support grant for municipalities to bring schools up to standard within the framework of the health protocol

In addition, the municipalities have until the beginning of August to submit their application.
and benefit from the local investment support grant (DSIL). The latter will allow them
to undertake work to bring the school premises into conformity with the recommendations of the
health protocol.

The ARS and the prefecture call on everyone to remain cautious and to respect health measures,
in particular the wearing of masks in closed public places.
The virus does not take a vacation. Respect the barrier gestures to protect yourself but
also protect our elders and our families at family gatherings.
