Dakar, August 1 (APS) – Senegal formalized on Saturday 52 new positive cases of coronavirus and four additional deaths, bringing the number of people infected to 10,284 and that of deaths to 209 since the onset of the disease in the country, the March 2.
The new infections were detected from virological tests performed on samples taken from 850 subjects. The 52 new cases were followed by the health services while the source of the contamination of the 14 others was unknown.
Speaking during the daily update on the epidemiological situation of the country, Doctor El Hadji Mamadou Ndiaye, Director of Prevention, indicated that these communities were discovered in Thiès (2), Ziguinchor (2), Diourbel (1), Fann (1), Front de Terre (1), Guédiawaye (1), Khombole (1), Pikine (1), Pout (1), Sacré-Cœur (1), Tamnacouna (1) and Popenguine (1).
He assured that 46 healings have been recorded in the last 24 hours, causing the number of people to recover after contracting the virus to 6,822.
Some 153 days after the onset of the coronavirus disease in the country, 3,252 patients are still under observation, including 42 in serious condition in the various centers and places of treatment, according to the Ministry of Health and Social Action .
