Mallorca – For years thousands of German tourists have been coming to Spain. In Mallorca, the beer-loving party holidaymakers at Ballermann offer full clubs and the best atmosphere under the blazing sun.
But in 2020 the party trip for party tourists will finally fall into the water. The government of the Balearic Island is campaigning for an absolute party stop at Ballermann because of the corona crisis.
Ballermann: Mallorca’s government is closing clubs for party tourists
And it gets worse for all party-loving vacationers. The Ballermann break could go on for a while, the responsible authorities in Mallorca are tying the reopening of the party strongholds on Ballermann to access to a vaccine against the corona virus.
Scientists worldwide are currently researching a remedy for the dangerous virus. But no vaccine is in sight yet.
The tough decision by the Balearic Government is causing general horror – both among club operators and many German holidaymakers who, after the recent Corona relaxations, already thought they were on their favorite holiday island. Even Ballermann stars like Jürgen Drews, who recently made headlines with a thoughtful appearance, should not be enthusiastic.
Corona virus: fear of second wave of infection in Mallorca
But Mallorca’s government acts out of responsibility. According to the Spanish media, the country fears a second wave of infection. If COVID-19 broke out again, this could have even more catastrophic consequences for tourism in Spain.
In an interview with the image Francina Armengol, Prime Minister of the Balearic Islands, said that the isolation from the mainland and tourism did not bring the desired success. Poverty among the island population even increased.
Despite all the hardships, the 2020 summer season cannot be saved – at least as far as party tourism is concerned.
Those who want to spend their holidays away from the Ballermann on the Balearic Islands can continue to hope. “Leisure tourism will again be in Mallorca, Menorca, Formentera and Ibiza, but what we don’t want is excessive tourism,” Armengol told the image.

Club operators at Ballermann protest against measures taken by the government of Mallorca
The Spanish club operator industry does not want to accept the decision yet. “It cannot be that our sector has been working on protocols for so long and we have now been excluded,” said Jesus Sanchez. The president of the industry association and his colleagues proposed a ten-day test phase from the opening of the border on June 21.
By blocking the dance floors and reducing the party guests to just 30 percent of the previous occupancy and registering them, the company wanted to take the corona risk into account. It seems questionable whether there would be a party atmosphere in such a sparse setting.
In the past few days, hit celebrities had predicted a gloomy future for Ballermann. Meanwhile, a TUI travel breakdown caused trouble for Mallorca tourists.
If you prefer to spend your vacation time at home, the weather forecast for summer 2020 in Germany * should give hope.
