Corona virus: This is what South Tyrolean civil protection recommends

On Monday, the state control center discussed how to reduce the risk of infection with the corona virus. At the subsequent press conference, it was explained how the risk of infection can be kept as low as possible.

“We do everything that is sensible, feasible and set by the standards,” emphasized Governor Kompscher, who had attended a video conference on Monday morning with Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and the Presidents of the Regions of Northern Italy. The highest principle, emphasized Governor compatibility, was the protection of the health of the population and the avoidance of an infection risk.

An emergency ordinance enacted on Sunday stipulates that all childcare facilities, the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, the State University of Applied Sciences Claudiana and the Conservatory Claudio Monteverdi will remain closed until March 1st. Today’s state control center meeting recommends avoiding the accumulation of many people in closed rooms as much as possible. This, as Kompscher emphasized, was not a ban, but a recommendation: “There is no reason to be alarmed and scared, but we approach the matter with the necessary seriousness and professionalism”.

All operators of accommodation facilities, General Director Zerzer emphasized, are requested to inform the medical service about the presence of guests who come from places of origin from the eleven municipalities of Lombardy and Veneto in which the Corona virus is spread: “Our experts will then check whether there are symptoms of an infection. “

Flu symptoms necessary for suspected cases

State Health Councilor Thomas Widmann pointed out that the procedures were set for eventualities: the services are coordinated in order to keep the risk factors to a minimum. State councilor Schuler reminded that the state control center takes over the coordination and makes any decisions: The state control center is called again whenever decisions have to be made. Since yesterday, the situation center has also been active around the clock, where all the necessary information comes together.

The managing medical director Pierpaolo Bertoli emphasized that there is currently no case of an infection with coronavirus in South Tyrol and that all nine suspected cases after a double screening within 24 hours turned out to be negative. In order to be classified as a suspected case, the patient must have flu symptoms and have come into contact with people or have been in places where there are foci of infection.

The medical service and the civil protection agency are currently checking the availability of facilities where suspicious cases can be accommodated if necessary so that they can be treated separately from the hospitals.
