A joint meeting of the Egyptian Minister of Health and her assistants with the representative of the World Health Organization after announcing the registration of the first case of coronavirus in Egypt
The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population and the World Health Organization announced today, Friday, in a joint statement the discovery of the first positive case of corona virus emerging in the country for a “foreign” person.
The statement pointed out that the laboratory analyzes of the suspected case were positive for the virus, but “without the appearance of any symptoms.”
It was not clear from the statement the nationality or type of the affected case (a man or a woman), when it entered the country, and the region in which it resides.
The health authorities in Egypt transferred the patient “with one of the self-sterilized ambulances to the hospital for isolation and health follow-up.”
The ministry’s statement explained that the injured person’s health condition is “completely stable” at the present time.
The Egyptian Ministry of Health said that it had taken “strict preventive measures against those in contact with the case through conducting the necessary analyzes that were negative for the virus, as they were self-isolated in their places of residence as a precautionary measure for a period of 14 days, the incubation period of the disease, and the building in which the case and the contacts were evaluated to her”.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health succeeded in discovering the first case of coronavirus, “thanks to the preventive precaution plan it applies.”
Dr. Khaled Mujahid, Adviser to the Minister of Health and Population for Media Affairs in Egypt, and the official spokesperson for the ministry, said that the ministry succeeded in discovering the first case of a foreign person infected with Corona virus “thanks to the preventive precaution plan implemented by the ministry by activating the electronic program to record and follow-up from arriving countries It has infections of the new coronavirus and through the preventive teams that follow them around the clock, indicating that laboratory tests were conducted for the suspected case and that the result was positive for the virus, but without any symptoms.
Mujahid added that “the World Health Organization was informed immediately, and all preventive measures and measures were taken in cooperation with the World Health Organization.”
The statement also conveyed the praise of Dr. John Gabor, the representative of the World Health Organization in Egypt, for “the speed and transparency of the Egyptian government in dealing with the situation, and its keenness to inform the organization of the case as soon as it is suspected, praising the preventive measures taken by the Ministry of Health and Population regarding the discovered case and those who are in contact with it.”
John stressed that Egypt “is one of the first countries to develop a good preventive plan to address the emerging corona virus and how to deal with infected cases once they are discovered, and that Egypt is also one of the first countries in the Eastern Mediterranean Region that the organization provided accurate detectors to detect those infected with the new corona virus.”
