At a vaccination summit scheduled at short notice today, the state government wants to discuss with local politicians and representatives of doctors’ associations how corona vaccinations can be made more efficient and unnecessary waiting times can be prevented. NDR.de will broadcast the statements here live after the meeting.

In response to the criticism of the slowing vaccination rate in the state and the poor availability of the vaccination hotline, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania now wants to improve. At a meeting in the afternoon in Schwerin with representatives of the municipalities and medical associations, the state government wants to revise the vaccination strategy. Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) had admitted problems with the implementation of the vaccination strategy.

How can general practitioners be more involved?

With the opening of vaccinations for category two with the chronically ill, educators, teachers and police officers, the number of those affected has also increased significantly. Many wanted to get vaccinated quickly, but there was a lack of vaccine, according to Schwesig. The vaccination summit will also discuss how General practitioners can be more involved in vaccinations in the future. A model project has been running in the Northwest Mecklenburg district for weeks.

Little vaccine – Schwesig warns against too high expectations

With a view to the limited vaccine quantities, Schwesig dampened hopes for far-reaching results at the summit. It was said that general practitioners who are ready to be vaccinated should initially be given ten doses of vaccination with which they and the practice staff can be vaccinated. This would ensure that there is protection against infection in the doctor’s offices by the general start of vaccination planned for mid-April.

MV can inoculate almost 200,000 cans in March

Primary school teachers and educators should receive the syringes in their schools through mobile vaccination teams. According to Health Minister Harry Glawe (CDU), a total of 190,650 vaccination doses are available for protective vaccinations in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in March. Most of these should be used during the month, says Glawe. Only 20 percent of the 99,450 doses of the vaccine from Biontech / Pfizer were withheld as security for second vaccinations. In addition, around 21,600 cans from Moderna and 69,900 from AstraZeneca are available.
