Tourism industry demands normal operation at Easter

At Easter, at the beginning of April, hotels and restaurants would need to be largely normal again, otherwise, according to Bernhard Brons from the Chamber of Commerce in Northern Germany, many companies would not be able to continue. Bad mood in the tourism industry

A survey of around 1,200 businesses in the north reveals gloomy prospects for the tourism industry: Compared to the previous year, the so-called business climate index in the hospitality industry has collapsed by more than half.

Travel industry particularly affected by the Corona crisis

Travel providers rate their situation even worse – they have a particularly big minus due to the cancellation of already paid bookings. Many companies are currently assuming that their business will not return to normal until after 2021.

Significantly fewer nights in Hamburg hotels

Almost every second company in the travel industry also expects to employ fewer people in the coming season than before. In October, guests in Hamburg hotels had booked 654,000 overnight stays. That is a decrease of more than half compared to the previous year.
