Union is preparing its own proposal for mandatory vaccination from 50

Members of the CDU and CSU are preparing their own legislative proposal for mandatory vaccination from 50: “Because the majority of Covid intensive care patients are older than 50, we can effectively protect the health system with a mandatory vaccination for everyone aged 50 and over and still interfere with freedom keep it as low as possible for society, “said the CSU health politician Stephan Pilsinger to the newspapers of the Funke media group. The group of health and legal politicians of the Union parliamentary group behind the proposal does not want to work with MPs from other parties. The Union proposal should be “better” than the drafts of other groups. According to Pilsinger’s opinion, all over 50-year-olds who are double-vaccinated should be vaccinated in the sense of mandatory vaccination. An obligation for regular booster vaccinations, on the other hand, may only be introduced if it is constitutionally “absolutely watertight”. “In order to enforce compulsory vaccination, a vaccination register is absolutely necessary,” added Pilsinger.

MV: New rules for restaurants and fitness studios

A few days after the federal-state consultations to contain the corona pandemic, the state government is dealing with the implementation of the resolutions in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The cabinet meeting in Schwerin in the morning will, among other things, deal with new rules for visiting restaurants or fitness studios. Only those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered have access. For people with a booster vaccination, the additional test obligation will no longer apply immediately. So far, the north-east had a period of 14 days after the third vaccination. In addition, legal precautions are to be taken to ensure rapid application of the new quarantine regulations. The specific requirements of the federal government should be available by the end of the week. In response to a ruling by the Higher Administrative Court, the cabinet must also re-regulate how the utilization of the intensive care beds with corona patients is calculated.

Senior hospital doctors urge vaccination

The Association of Leading Hospital Doctors in Germany is urging the rapid introduction of a general compulsory corona vaccination for adults. Association president Michael Weber demanded in a guest article for the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung”: “Even if many details such as the number of necessary vaccines and the introduction of a vaccination register for finally better data quality are still open, the discussion in the Bundestag must start immediately!” Since all appeals for vaccination have not had enough fruit, the crucial vaccination gap must be closed by an obligation in order to avert harm to the population. The basic rights to individual self-determination and physical integrity would have to recede, wrote Weber. Since the incidences have recently risen disproportionately, especially among younger people, the leading hospital doctors advocated a general compulsory vaccination from the age of 18.

Dahmen: Omikron infection does not protect against other variants

The health policy spokesman for the Green Group, Janosch Dahmen, warns people with an Omicron infection not to feel safe. “Anyone who thinks that Omikron infection can protect against further virus variants is on the wrong track,” said Dahmen to the editorial network in Germany (RND). “The data available so far show that those who have recovered from Omicron do not necessarily have protection against other variants.” There are people who are infected with Omikron and then with the delta variant of the corona virus. “Only vaccination offers sufficient protection against different variants,” warned Dahmen. In this context, he also called for clarification as to when people are considered fully immunized: “Only people who have been vaccinated three times and who have had their second vaccination no more than three months ago should be considered fully vaccinated,” he said. The same applies to those who have recovered – “three months after the infection, a vaccination is necessary because the protection against virus transmission lasts roughly that long”.

3,440 new infections in Schleswig-Holstein

The seven-day incidence in Schleswig-Holstein has risen to 587.3 – from 529.5 the previous day (previous week: 295.5). In many circles, the health authorities are working to the limit and are in default of reporting. Over the past few days, there have been gaps in the transmission of the current corona numbers. This has now apparently been at least partially made up and explains the number of 3,440 new cases within 24 hours (previous day: 764; previous week: 2,209). The hospitalization incidence, which is important for corona measures and indicates how many corona patients per 100,000 people came to clinics within a week, fell from 3.13 to 2.89. However, five more corona deaths have been reported since Sunday. The number of corona deaths in the country since the beginning of the pandemic has risen to 1,903. In the intensive care units of Schleswig-Holstein, 57 seriously ill Covid-19 patients are cared for (+4), 43 of them are ventilated. In Lübeck, the incidence of new infections climbed to over 1,000, followed by Kiel (793.2) and Dithmarschen (768.5). Schleswig-Flensburg has the lowest incidence value with 309.4.
