He is Dr. Vivek Rai, a doctor at a private hospital in the capital India, New Delhi. Dr Rai is from the state of Uttar Pradesh, Gorakhpur.
As reported by local media, India Today, Monday (3/5/2021), one of Dr Rai’s colleagues, who was reluctant to give his name, said Dr Rai served in the COVID-19 unit for the past month and handled ICU patients.
“He will provide CPR to about seven to eight patients every day. Despite the efforts, not much can survive,” he said, adding that Dr Rai was “frustrated” with the patient’s existing situation and condition.
His colleague called him a fighter on the front lines in the fight against the pandemic Corona, Dr. Rai has saved hundreds of lives during the viral pandemic Corona.
The young doctor married in November 2020 and leaves a wife who is two months pregnant. Dr. Rai’s body was taken to AIIMS New Delhi for postmortem.
“This once again highlights the tremendous emotional strain that doctors and healthcare workers are experiencing while dealing with the COVID-19 crisis. The death of this young doctor is nothing but a murder by a system that has created frustration for basic health care facilities,” said Dr Ravi Wankhedkar, former the national president of the Indian Medical Association.
Local police said Dr Vivek Rai died by suicide at his residence in Malviya Nagar.
Currently, the pandemic is on India Still raging, India’s hospitals, morgues and crematoriums are currently overwhelmed, as the country has reported more than 300,000 new cases every day for more than 10 consecutive days.
