Corona rules: Söder open until end of mask obligation in local transport – Bavaria

Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) is considering abolishing the mask obligation to protect against corona infections in local public transport. “If the contagion situation remains the same, we will think about making masks mandatory in local public transport”, announced Söder Munchner Merkur for his state.

“In December, at the latest in January, the mandatory mask requirement could be converted into a voluntary recommendation if the situation remains the same,” Söder told the newspaper. In light of the declining numbers, a general requirement is “soon no longer appropriate”.

The current version of the Bavarian Infection Protection Ordinance, which stipulates the obligation to wear a mask, is valid until 9 December. Schleswig-Holstein first attempted to overturn the mask requirement but was initially met with a divided response.
