There was a large corona outbreak in the Lübeck Sana clinics. According to a spokeswoman, 79 employees had tested positive for the virus until yesterday.
In addition to employees, patients are also affected. According to a clinic spokeswoman, 41 infected people are cared for in the two Covid wards, and two more are in the intensive care unit. The vast majority of these patients had been admitted to the hospital as an inpatient due to an external Covid 19 disease.

Non-urgent operations postponed for now
In accordance with the crisis plans, the clinic has reduced hospital operations according to its own information, so that emergency care and the care of the patients already to be treated is guaranteed. All sliding operations have been suspended in order to reduce the number of contacts to a minimum. The clinic is in close contact with the health department.
The infections were possibly triggered by a patient who initially tested negative, in whom the virus was only detected later by a second test.
Corona outbreak also in the retirement home in Büchen
There was another corona outbreak in Büchen (Duchy of Lauenburg district). According to the district, 44 of 49 residents of a retirement home tested positive for Corona. In addition, 15 employees were infected according to the notification. The health department ordered stricter hygiene rules and a visit ban for the home.
