How accessible is the vaccination?

How do I get a vaccination appointment? Are there wheelchairs and an opportunity to rest in the vaccination center? Are explanatory films subtitled and in easy language? Barrier-free access to vaccination centers is particularly important for the high-priority groups of senior citizens and people with previous illnesses.

The state of Lower Saxony has the goal of making all 50 vaccination centers barrier-free or at least low-barrier. Accompanying persons for people with disabilities are expressly welcome, said a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health in Hanover. According to the office of the State Commissioner for the Disabled, Petra Wontorra, most of the centers are “well equipped” when it comes to accessibility. However, there are no precise findings or figures about which vaccination centers guarantee how much accessibility. According to the social authorities, the Hamburg vaccination center has ramps for easy access. There are also helpers and relaxation rooms. According to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health in Kiel, all vaccination centers in Schleswig-Holstein are barrier-free.

Schwesig does not believe in quick easing

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig dampened hopes for rapid relaxation of the Corona rules. You see the mutations of the corona virus with great concern, said the SPD politician in one ARD Extra. “Then, I believe, we will talk less about easing and more about tightening,” emphasized Schwesig. Schwesig was annoyed about the slow deliveries of corona vaccines. Almost everything comes to a standstill because the vaccine is missing. The European Union ordered too late and too little. “That is really bitter,” said the SPD politician. Before the vaccination summit on Monday, she asked the federal government for more clarity and binding force. You have to know on site when which delivery is coming.

Crematoria in Hamburg and SH not yet overloaded

Neither in Schleswig-Holstein nor in Hamburg are the coffins stacked in the crematoria as in other cities. The managing director of the cremations Schleswig-Holstein, Ralf Paulsen, also reported that there have been no problems in Lübeck, Kiel and Tornesch so far.

Plaintiffs exempt from corona restrictions

The Greifswald Administrative Court has granted objections to the stricter corona rules that have been in force in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district since Monday. The night curfew and the 15-kilometer rule no longer apply to the two plaintiffs. The court announced on Friday evening. For all others, the general decree still applies. One applicant had resisted the night curfew and the 15-kilometer rule, the other only against the curfew between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Both had criticized that the night curfew was disproportionate. The court sees it that way too. It also considers the 15-kilometer rule to be too imprecise. It is not immediately obvious where the 15-kilometer radius ends.

Entry stop for countries with highly contagious Corona mutants

For countries in which particularly contagious variants of the corona virus have spread strongly, an entry ban has been in effect in Germany since today. The Federal Cabinet imposed a ban on the transport of people from these countries on airlines, rail, bus and shipping companies until February 17. Great Britain, Ireland, Portugal, South Africa and Brazil are initially affected, and from Sunday the African states Lesotho and Estwani will also be affected. However, the regulation provides for many exceptions – including for all Germans and for foreigners living in Germany as well as for transit passengers and for the movement of goods. “At the moment I can only urgently appeal to the population to absolutely refrain from any non-essential trip abroad,” said Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer. “I even see it as a civic duty in these difficult times.”
