MV: New report shows infections in children and adolescents

The number of new corona infections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has reached a record level for a few days. Daycare centers and schools in particular are seeing a sharp increase in the number of cases. The State Office for Health and Social Affairs (LAGuS) had previously reported the infection rate at these facilities in a daily special report – the “Report on the Corona Numbers in Schools and Daycare Centers”. Since Friday, LAGuS has been publishing a status report that no longer only shows the number of cases in schools and daycare centers, but also, among other things, the seven-day incidence of new infections broken down by age group. Doubts and criticism of the published data had previously been raised.

Doubts had been raised about the figures originally reported. The actual incidence of infection in young people is higher, according to the criticism. more

Patient advocates call for priority for risk groups in PCR tests

Eugen Brysch, board member of the German Foundation for Patient Protection, warned against discrimination against people who are considered a risk group in view of the shortage of PCR tests: “The very old, those in need of care, the seriously ill and their relatives must come first in the PCR test “Brysch told the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung. The core of all pandemic measures is the protection of the most vulnerable people. “Now only giving priority to professional groups in the laboratory tests cannot meet this requirement,” said Brysch with a view to the Corona summit on Monday, at which a decision is to be made on a new test strategy. The federal and state governments would have to “unmistakably regulate the prioritization of those at risk in the test regulation,” demanded Brysch. “Because they are also responsible for the much too low PCR test capacities.” The patient advocate also suggested that younger and therefore less vulnerable people should in future be granted infected or recovered status without a PCR test in order to counteract the shortage. The citizen tests are sufficiently accurate.

Lower Saxony: Havliza for accelerated procedure for criminal offenses at Corona demos

In the case of criminal offenses at Corona demonstrations, the accelerated procedure should be used more intensively in the Lower Saxony judiciary. “The public prosecutor’s offices were asked to use the accelerated procedure in suitable cases. Then a judgment should be reached as quickly as possible,” said Minister of Justice Barbara Havliza of the German Press Agency. “Those affected should feel that their behavior has immediate consequences. That would definitely be a signal,” says the CDU politician. As an example of the possibility of using an accelerated procedure, she cited the injuring of police officers at a demonstration. According to the ministry, the time between the crime and the trial is reduced to a minimum in the accelerated procedure. In this way, perpetrators of minor crimes can be countered effectively. This prevents perpetrators from going into hiding, for example.

Distribution of corona test kits causes irritation in Hamburg

In Hamburg there is apparently a dispute about the use of a rapid corona test, which the city has purchased en masse. After the Genrui test kits often caused false positive results in schools, they are no longer used there. Now the police and fire brigade are getting the self-tests, which are controversial because they are allegedly unreliable. Heiko Runge from the German fire brigade union told the Hamburg Journal on NDR television that the city “apparently has not procured enough reasonable tests”. In other countries, approval for the criticized tests has already been withdrawn. 30,000 tests from another manufacturer that had already been delivered to the fire department had now been picked up and allegedly distributed to the school authorities. The social authority only announced that initial stocks would have to be used up first. According to the authorities, a second quick test is now permitted as a further reaction if there are doubts about the first test result.
