Stiko recommendation expected on Omicron boosters
The Standing Commission on Vaccination (Stiko) is expected to advise today on recommendations for the use of corona vaccines adapted to omcron sub-variants. This was announced Tuesday by Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) in an interview with RTL / ntv broadcaster. In the EU, vaccines from BionTech / Pfizer and Moderna companies are already approved against the omicron subgroup BA.1 and the BA.5 variant, which is now dominant in Germany.
RKI: Accidents in the north
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) dashboard shows the following data for the federal states of North Germany this morning:
In Lower Saxony the seven-day incidence of new infections rose to 300.9 (previous week: 279.8), 5,465 new coronary cases were confirmed.
In the state Bremen According to the RKI, the incidence of new infections in seven days is now 317.9 and 502 new coronal cases have been confirmed.
In Hamburg According to the RKI, the seven-day incidence of new infections has decreased since yesterday and is now 153.1 (previous week: 137.8), 985 new coronary cases have been confirmed.
RKI: seven-day incidence nationwide at 244.4
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) rated the seven-day incidence nationwide this morning at 244.4. The day before, the value of new corona infections per 100,000 population and week was 236.2, a week ago it was 223.1. German health authorities recently reported 46,514 new corona infections to RKI, there were 42,057 on Wednesday a week ago.
Note on current numbers: The incidence values do not provide a complete picture of the infectious situation. Experts assume a large number of cases not registered by RKI, mainly because not all infected people have performed a PCR test. However, only positive PCR tests are included in the official statistics. Furthermore, delayed recordings or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values. In general, the number of new infections recorded varies significantly from weekday to weekday, as many federal states do not report them to RKI, especially on weekends, and report their cases throughout the week.
SH: 1,441 new coronary infections – incidence rises to 228.1
In Schleswig-Holstein, the state registry office reported a corona incidence of 228.1 new infections per 100,000 people within seven days. On Wednesday last week, the incidence was 215.8. A total of 1,441 new corona infections were reported in the country, up from 1,350 in the previous week. 196 people were treated for the virus in clinics (previous week: 239). There were 25 corona patients in the ICU, 8 more than a week earlier. Nine of them were ventilated. The incidence of hospitalization was 3.4. It indicates how many patients per 100,000 population were admitted to hospitals with a corona infection within a week. In the previous week, this value was 3.5.
