No more mulled wine “to go” from today in Lower Saxony

No more mulled wine stands in public space in Lower Saxony: The ban on the sale of alcohol for consumption outside is already taking effect today. The State Chancellery in Hanover announced this on Friday evening with the publication of the new Corona regulation. The sale of alcoholic beverages such as mulled wine or punch for direct consumption in glasses or disposable cups is prohibited, also for the catering trade, retail trade and all private areas. “The background is that a presentation of alcohol that invites immediate consumption, above all, brings with it the significantly increased risk of large gatherings”, it said in the message.

MV: Stricter visiting regulations in nursing homes from today

The visiting regulations in nursing homes are being tightened significantly in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania against the background of the increasing number of corona infections. They come into force from today, as the Ministry of Social Affairs announced on Friday in Schwerin. The state government had already announced the tightening this week. According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, residents may then only be visited by a specified person per day, provided that the seven-day incidence of 50 across the country is exceeded. According to the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lagus), this is currently 78.2. Visitors must show a negative corona test, which must not be older than 72 hours. According to a spokesman, there should be the possibility of a quick test on site in the facilities. Visitors do not have to pay this.

MV: Corona police controls at the border with Poland

To contain the corona infections, the state police in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are now also checking travelers on the border with Poland. To this end, the new Interior Minister Torsten Renz (CDU) is expected today for his first visit to the state border in Ahlbeck on the island of Usedom. The officers, together with the federal police, want to determine above all whether people entering the country adhere to the quarantine rules. Poland is a risk area and anyone who drives across the border to shop must be quarantined after returning, Renz had explained. Such controls are now also planned at the otherwise heavily frequented crossings in Linken and Pomellen (Vorpommern-Greifswald). The background to the controls is that there are even higher incidence values in Poland – i.e. registered new infections per 100,000 inhabitants – than in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the Schwerin state government wants to avoid introductions. Only commuters who work on one side and live on the other side and are therefore regularly tested are allowed to pass without quarantine – but not shopping tourists.
