Omicron variant: South Africa feels like a scapegoat
The new variant of the coronavirus has led to travel restrictions in several countries. South Africa feels like a scapegoat. There is still no scientific evidence that decisions that other countries are closing themselves off are premature. South Africa is also dependent on income from tourism, it is said.

Hamburg extends the 2G rule in the leisure sector
Anyone who is not vaccinated against Corona in Hamburg must comply with stricter regulations from today. At midnight, a new ordinance came into force that stipulates the so-called 2G rule for indoor events. For unvaccinated adults this is like a kind of lockdown: You can still go shopping, go for a walk and attend smaller sporting events (up to 250 participants) outdoors. Most other leisure activities are denied to them. Only those who have been vaccinated or recovered are allowed to stay in hotels and take part in a city or harbor tour. Visits to concerts, theater performances, cinemas and museums are also only possible according to the 2G rule. The Hagenbeck Zoo can also only be visited with a vaccination or after recovery.
The new regulation also includes folk festivals, educational offers that are allocated to leisure activities, as well as amusement arcades and betting offices. There are still exceptions for children and young people. The 2G rules were tightened in Hamburg a week ago. Since then, only those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered have access to certain areas such as restaurants, bars and clubs. The same applies to indoor sports, to recreational choirs and orchestras, as well as services that are close to the body – as long as it does not involve visits to the hairdresser, foot care and medical treatments. Visits under 3G conditions are still possible there.
New vaccination centers in every district of the city are to create additional vaccination services. Opening times on different days of the week. more

RKI: Incidence reached a new high of 452.4
The seven-day incidence has continued to rise and has hit a new high. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week this morning as 452.4. For comparison: the previous day the value was 446.7, a week ago it was 386.5 (previous month: 64.3). The health authorities in Germany reported 29,364 new corona infections to the RKI within one day. Exactly one week ago there were 30,643 infections. Across Germany, 73 deaths were recorded within 24 hours (previous week: 62).

224 new infections in Schleswig-Holstein
In Schleswig-Holstein, 224 new corona cases were registered within one day. The seven-day incidence has increased further: The number of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants registered within one week is 151.3 – after 150.8 yesterday. This can be seen from the data from the state registration office. The so-called hospitalization incidence – i.e. the number of corona patients who per 100,000 people came to clinics within seven days – has remained the same at 4.36. 173 Covid-19 patients continued to be treated in the hospital. 42 of them were in an intensive care unit, 21 had to be ventilated. The number of deaths since the pandemic began has remained unchanged at 1,788. The incidence is highest in Lübeck at 206.2, and lowest in the Dithmarschen district at 84.1.
