Now a mask is required in many Hamburg green spaces and parks during the day. The background is the increasing number of corona mutations in Hamburg, as the First Mayor Peter Tschentscher explained. Anette van Koeverden comments.
The doctor in Dr. Peter Tschentscher looks at the rising Corona numbers, at the high number of Corona mutations in the city and probably only wants one thing: to shut everything down, immediately. The politician in Dr. Peter Tschentscher knows: I can’t get away with it and I will be damaged. On Tuesday the Senate announced the mask requirement. That caused an outcry. Jogging only with a mask was too much for many. It was withdrawn shortly afterwards. Masks are only required outside when it is really full, at certain times and in certain places. In the film “Frau Müller has to go”, Anke Engelke says the legendary sentence: “I work in a ministry. You have no idea what you can take back.” That’s right, because that’s exactly what happened.
Hard course not tenable
Tschentscher also knows that his tough course will not prevail at the next Prime Minister’s Conference. That is why he is now building a bridge for himself and saying what has long been clear: We are in a metropolitan region and if Schleswig-Holstein and Lower Saxony decide to open up steps, we are more or less forced to go along with them. That is the way out of the impasse into which the doctor Tschentscher, the politician Tschentscher. Because it is impossible to explain to anyone why you can buy flowers there and not here. And it is also not the case that the number of infections in neighboring countries increases exorbitantly after the openings.
Perspective is needed
Perspective is important to people. Everywhere in Hamburg, concepts are being drawn up on how to live with the virus, with sensible hygiene measures. People want to be taken seriously and heard and no longer follow the instructions of the doctor Tschentscher.
